9th Japanese Linguistics
Symposium 2023

Dates: 21st - 23rd December 2023

Hosted by Kansai University

Overview

Theme: “Community, Collaboration, and Collegiality: Researching Japanese Linguistics in a Post-COVID-19 World”

We are delighted to welcome back Honorary Associate Professor Nerida Jarkey, who is a founder of this symposium and has made an extraordinary impact on the research life of our higher degree students and early career research participants, and Dr Harumi Minagawa of the University of Auckland, who has generously agreed to act, once again, as Research Mentor to our participants.

The Faculty of Foreign Language Studies/Graduate School of Foreign Language Education & Research is looking forward to hosting the 9th Japanese Linguistic Symposium 2023 (JLS 2023) at Kansai University. This will be the first time the symposium has been hosted in Japan.

In line with this year's theme, the symposium aims to bring scholars and research students together to discuss their ongoing research in a relaxed and supportive way. We ask that attendees be open to new ideas and come prepared to contribute to members’ developing research.
